<p align=justify> Type 2 1st Place<br> Big O`s Collectibles<br> by Mark Hacker<br><br> Working 3rd shift sucks, why? Because I can only play in Big O`s friday night tourney`s for 2 months every 6 months. Thank God Big O let me talk him into having tournaments on saturdays. If you`re in Kentucky and would like a place to play come to Big O`s. We have tourneys twice a week and draft on mondays if enough people show up that is. <br><br> The tournament. <br><br> This week I decided to play Fires, I`ve never played Fires before and now wish I hadn`t waited so long to play it. <br><br> Round 1<br> vs. Garret Disney w/Black something or other, maybe Mercenary`s?<br> Game 1: Walt wins the die roll, plays a swamp. My turn I play forest Bird, He Vendetta`s it on his next turn. No prob, right? Yep it was a problem because he preceded to kill every mana producing critter I play. I had to wait till turn 4 to lay down a `Derm, I hate that. Needless to say he lays down a 1/1 critter a turn for the next couple turns for blockers, but by this time I`ve got out Fires, another `Derm and a newly summond Burst. I win. <br> Game 2: Pretty much the same except he didn`t kill all my mana producers this time. <br><br> 1-0<br> 2-0 <br><br> Round 2 vs. Mikie Swafford w/ Machine Head He`s playing a MH build that`s pretty much card for card the World Champion deck. Game 1: I win the die roll and get the perfect Fires draw. I don`t remember the perticulars of the game but I won. <br> Game 2: He goes first and I don`t get an optimal draw, 2 forest, 1 mountain, 2 Ports, 1 Fires, 1 Llanowar Elf. I keep it since the 2 Ports would slow him down a couple turns leaving me time to draw into some threats. 4 turns later I`ve drew a Fires and 3 forest. He played a Lava Runner a few turns ago and it`s been doing 2 a turn with no answer. I finally draw a Rage and send the Runner to hell along with one of my many forest. My deck finally has some mercy on me and starts giving me something to make Mikie squirm. Couple `Derms and a Bust later, I win. <br><br> 2-0 <br> 4-0 <br><br> Round 3 vs. Doyle `Greven` House w/ Crosis-Go <br> Since Doyle is my teammate in Wet Panites we look at the standings to see if we should ID or not, we decide to play since we`re both 2-0 and we`re pretty sure we`ll win in round 4. <br> Game 1: I don`t remember ANYTHING about this game except that he Misdirected a kicked Rage back at me putting me at 8 or 9 when he was at 8 or 9, but next turn I kicked up another Rage at him and won. Game 2: Same as above except remove the part about the kicked Rages. He didn`t draw enough counter magic either and that helped on my part. `Derms and Burst win it for me. <br><br> 3-0 <br> 6-0 <br><br> Round 4 vs. Shane Sams w/ Dromar-Go <br> Sams usually plays on fridays a O`s, this is the first saturday tourney he`s ever played in I think. I`ve been throwing friendly insults at him since I got there that day, he throws them back. Something we do, I enjoy it. This was a match up I wasn`t looking forward to. <br> Game 1: I won the die roll I think. It didn`t matter, on his turn 5 he layed down a Dromar, nothing I can do about that. Dromar flies in for the win. <br> Game 2: You ever have those matches where you just know you can`t win? This was one of them for me cause the only thing I had my SB against him was Scorching Lava`s to get rid of his Nethers. I play some Bursts and `Derm do draw out his counters hoping my Battlemages I managed to get into play could go the distance. Doesn`t work, Wrath is a bitch. At least I kicked Scorched 2 of his Nethers which made him a little sad. During the whole match he`s been eating my library with a Millstone, when he casts another Millstone and I`ve got 12 cards in my library, I scoop. <br><br> 3-1 <br> 6-2 <br><br> I`m pretty happy with the performance of my deck by this point since it`s the first time I`ve ever played it. <br><br> Top 8 consists of: <br> Doyle House (Crosis-Go) vs. Craig Bargo (Rebels) <br> Shane Sams (Dromar-Go) vs. One of the guys from Barborville, sorry I can`t remember your name. <br> Chris Karr (U/W Control) vs. Chris Hinkle (G/W Mana Accelorator something or other) Me (Fires) vs. Derek ? (B/W Dessy)<br><br> Quarterfinals: <br> vs. Derek ? (B/W Dessy Game 1: This one was pretty one sided in my favor since he stalled at 2 swamps. `Derms and Burst do their job.<br> Game 2: I was getting kinda worried this game when he Verdict`s me two turns in a row. Worried that is until the beautiful Rhonda sat down beside me, I ran my fingers through her golden locks and the game took a swing for the better on my part. He didn`t get any answers to my `Derms and Burst`s in play so I`m off to the Simi`s.<br><br> Semifinals:<br> vs. Chris Karr U/W Control <br> Game 1: Pretty much one sided with me doing 8 a turn to his head with Battlemages, `Derms and a lone Llanowar Elf. Rhonda by my side giving me that good luck. <br> Game 2: Chris hands me my 3rd loss of the day when Rhonda goes and talks to some people she`s role playing with later that night. He has 2 Teferi`s Moat (red and green) and a Story Circle (green) on the board and I can`t draw into any enchantment removal from my SB. <br> Game 3: I drag Rhonda back to my side for this one. Chris makes some really bad plays during this one, he cast`s a Moat and says `red` when the only red critters in my deck are Flametonges which got sided out. He also has a Story Circle (green) in play and doesn`t use it when I play a couple red kicked Battlemage`s 2 turns in a row. I`ve sided in 4 Hull Breches for his Millstones and Moats/Story Circles when I finally draw one it`s gets countered, no big deal, I got more. My side consists of a `Derm with 1 counter left, 3 Llanowar`s and 1 Bird, he Wraths after the `Derm goes away. I`ve been waiting for this because I`ve held 2 Kavu Chameleons`s for a couple turns. The first one comes out to Chris` dismay. It does 8 damage before he burns a Wrath to kill it, I`ve been waiting for that also, the second one comes out on my next turn. When I change it to white to attack he casts Hibernation in response, I change it to blue in response, The Kavu goes the distance for the win. <br><br> After that match I go over and watch Doyle and Sams fight it out in a grulling match. Doyle looses the first game and Sams get`s mana hosed the next two. <br><br> Looks like a Wet Panties finals, just the way we like it. <br><br> I`d like to say that I beat Doyle like a red headed scrub child, but that`s not the way we do it in Team Wet Panties. The prize is 18 packs for 1st place, 10 for 2nd. Me and Doyle split, 14 packs each. We roll a die to see who get`s the win, he rolls 10, I roll 15. <br><br> Props:<br> Team WP, for going the distance.<br> Sams, for playing on saturday, bout time ya punk.<br> The kid who loaned me the Scorching Lava`s, I still can`t believe I don`t own any, it`s COMMON! I`m a scrub.<br> Rhonda, for bringing me luck in my time of need.<br> Big O, without him I couldn`t play in weekly tourneys. <br><br> Slops:<br> The Yap`s, for not being there.
