blue splash is primarily for sideboard. trickbind answers endgame of twin, tron (emrakul casting trigger, enabling edict removal), pod, and other relevant things. negate answers cryptic command, karn, lili, path, etc. access to tar pit is also a plus.
i envision this configuration as best in more combo- and control-heavy metas. it sacrifices more life with maindeck thoughtseize, increasing vulnerability to aggression. the board increases to 3x damnation to compensate.
