DESCRIPTION
since alara block rotated out, decks have gotten a lot slower. uw control, ramp decks, ub control- all slow. even elves are significantly slower than jund used to be.
i figure, the best way to beat these slow decks is to have the slowest, most counter-heavy control deck possible- which means mono-blue.
why not splash black or white, you ask? because without the splash, i get a more consistent mana base, and i get access to more counterspells than just the almighty mana leak. believe it or not, deprive is actually better than counterspell in a lot of scenarios- and the uu mana cost makes it prohibitive in uw and ub decks. having this abundance of counterspells means that other slow decks will never, ever be able to resolve a finisher.
this deck wins with either jace, conundrum sphinx, frost titan, or volition reins on an opponents fatty. believe it or not, in testing, conundrum sphinx has proven to be incredibly powerful in this deck. its cheap enough to cast with counter backup, and there is so much library manipulation that you will be able to use its ability nearly every turn.
so, tell me what you think.
