DESCRIPTION
updated. Changed some removal and added gifted aetherborns. Last showdown won 1 match against an artifact deck and held up very well against red aggro in 1 match but lost.
This started out as my budget deck for standard showdown. Happened to get 2 Nezahals so I decided to make this deck and it was pretty fun. Anything of value I got in packs or traded for, only the check lands I bought because they were at a very good price. Only played it once with a slightly different list and managed to win a single match against UG Merfolk but ended up losing, and stayed alive for a long time against a top tier red aggro deck (post-rampaging ferocidon ban). Against friends playing casually though its more than decent and is no stranger to people wishing they could play things.
The idea is to counter or remove everything until you get to nezahal, cast and hopefully only have to swing 2 or 3 times. Baral makes things go very smoothly with his instant and sorcery discount. Paying 1 blue for an essence scatter is very nice, 3 for an acquisition tutoring the sideboard or deck for anything is also very nice when the time calls for it. Never play Baral if you can't protect him on your opponent's turn. One improvement I would like to make is replace the cancel with disallow which I don't have but I threw in the silent gravestone if THulks make an appearance, but I mostly need them for embalm/eternalize as the removal can lean towards weak. The blackblade is an extra little thing if you're feeling frisky, nezzy only having to swing twice is nice and also baral can hold the fort down too if need be.
Thanks for looking!
