DESCRIPTION
Grixis control with the God Pharaoh himself.
One of my least favorite things about control is the way it plays. Mostly, control decks are reactive and don't accomplish a clock until turn 6 with Torrential Gearhulk. This is where planeswalkers come in. You still play reactive but you can have a board presence earlier. Also, a turn 4 Chandra, Torch of Defiance makes a turn five Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh.
The past fnms, Chandra, Flamecaller overperformed. She is basically Torrential Gearhulk 2-3 but better for the playstyle I'm going for. She brings immediate power to the table and is very versatile. Chandra, Torch of Defiance is awesome, even for a control deck. Her plus ones are good at chipping away and playing cards for "free". She can remove creatures and left unchecked, will win the game. I'm not going to go through my main board picks anymore because they are self explanatory. Sideboard guide. I originally had really cool cards on the sideboard but eventually realized that sideboard cards should be answers to problematic decks. Magma Spray for zombies and Mardu. Dispel and Sphinx of the Final Word for control mirrors or fog. Transgress for pesky permanents. Negate and Essence Scatter for games you think are needed. Kalitas for every creature deck and especially zombies. By force is for artifact decks and actually for control mirrors. By Force can get rid of Torrential Gearhulks.
