Why black? Because I believe the black splash is necessary to beat white weenie in block. Kor Firewalker is one of your biggest concerns. Also, running up against a strange ramp deck is also not a problem since you board in Marsh Casualties. The ruinblasters are there to fight against manlands. Unstable footing is also in the board to provide both an alternate win condition and a way to beat Kor Firewalker.
