DESCRIPTION

Aesi, Tyrant of the Gyre Straight is a very straight forward commander. Play lands, draw cards, win game. This is my paper version of the deck. For MTGO, I trade out the following: 1 Forest for 1 Gaea's Crade 1 Yavimaya Coast for Tropical Island 1 Echo of Eons for Capture of Jingzhou Obviously, I think these cards are have better synergy for this deck, but the paper versions are too expensive for me at the moment. This deck ramps up and player Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre straight. You also have additional creatures, enchantments, and sorcery spells to allow you to play more lands a turn. Tatyova, Benthic Druid is the Gyre, without the extra land play and it forces you to draw a card, instead of giving you the option to draw the card. Play lands, draw cards, taken extra turns if you don't get your wincon. The counter spells give you time to get your wincon out or stop other players from doing something that will hurt you. Misty Rainforest with the graveyard land play is great. You get 1 draw for playing misty and 1 more when you sacrifice and get another land. It's a 2 for 1 and give you more opportunity to thin out your deck. I purposely stayed away from a lot of artifacts for this deck. I suppose it could benefit from things like Chrome Mox. However, I purposely kept my lands very simple and they come into play generally untapped, in order to be used. You can return lands to your hand and replay them with Mana Breach and Meloku the Clouded Mirror. This is handy when you aren't getting the draws you need. You can also produce extra mana with Temple of the False God. This deck can win a couple ways. Traditional damage. You can just stomp your opponent to death with creatures, tokens, and overwhelming stampede. You will produce enough mana to recast it via snapcaster mage or Eternal Witness. You can knock your opponent out with poison, via Triumph of Hordes Lastly, you can win via card draw. I find Laboratory maniac is enough to win with a Windfall. When this deck busts out, you draw a lot of cards and will have a very large hand, with lots of mana available. That makes it easy to get 40 or so cards in your hand and windfall the rest of your library out into a win. Counter spells, specifically voidslime and Disallow will stop activated abilities from different permanents on the field from stopping you as well. I hope you enjoy the deck. Looking forward to critiques.
